And the Winner Is.................

Not to the surprise of many, Mitt Romney came out on top in Iowa. But not by much. Who would have imagined the Rick Santorum would have come such a close second. Not me, that's for sure. But still, good for Rick. Now his campaign will get some more coverage and a bunch of money. Now that Michele Bachmann has bowed out I wonder how many of her supporters will change their allegiance to Santorum.

I was disappointed to see Michele call it quits. I don't care what you think of her politics, she is a smart person, a committed conservative and the leader of the "repeal Obamacare" coalition. She has a background as a tax attorney, that made me think that she would reform, or at least try to reform the monstrosity known as the US Tax Code. It will be interesting to see if the eventual nominee considers her for the VP slot.

But back to Romney and Santorum. Both have hit the road to New Hampshire and the media is already calling Santorum names. I have heard him referred to as a "big government" conservative. Is that anything like jumbo shrimp? The moniker is a contradiction in terms. I am listening to Margaret Hoover blasting Santorum for his opposition to gay marriage. Didn't Barry also say that he was opposed to gay marriage? Now Rick is fervent on this issue as well as being pro-life. That may be why he did so well in Iowa.

Ron Paul came in third with Newt Gingrich coming in fourth. Newt really took it in the neck over the last few weeks while he was running close to Romney and it showed. I can't believe that Ron Paul came in third. He's a bit of a nutter on foreign relations and scares me a bit. Having said that, he will now become the nominee. I hope I'm wrong.

At first I thought Herman Cain could win it. Oops. Then I secretly wanted Michele Bachmann. Oops again. Now I don't want to think of who I want to win this thing. It appears to be a nail in their political coffin.

As long as we can nail the lid shut on the far left lunacy taking place in DC today, I'll vote for whoever the GOP puts up against Barry.
