Bidenflation

Today as I was out and about running errands with Mrs. Conservative we noticed that the price for one gallon of regular unleaded gas is $4.19-9. So basically, $4.20. That's a 20 cent jump from just yesterday. 20 cents in just one day! This is getting out of hand. Before long I wont leave the house unless it's absolutely necessary. I don't know how people that have to drive to work are able to.

Since Joe and his cronies have assumed control gas has increased $2.23 a gallon where I live here in central Florida. Of course since that has happened it costs more to go the grocery store, the hardware store, restaurants and even the dollar store, which has raised its prices to $1.25.

Don't try to blame this on the XL Pipeline being shut down, or the fact that new leases on government lands have been eliminated and existing leases will not be renewed, and don't you dare try to blame this on the Russian aggression in Ukraine. Nope, this is all down to oil companies wanting more profits. I don't know how Senator Fuaxcahontas Liz Warren or Jen "Peppermint Patty" Psaki can say that with a straight face. I know I either laugh out loud or cry whenever I hear these two clowns speak.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the one thing not taught in a liberal arts education is economics. Since the Potted Plant formerly known as Joe Biden handed off this country's energy policy to the far left kooks, this was foreseeable. Some might even say, inevitable.

On the lunchtime news I saw that the national average for gas was an even $4. This is the highest since 2008. Who was in the White House then with asinine energy policies? None other that Barrack Hussein Obama! And there was Creepy Joe standing right along side of him. I'm not really all that surprised by this, just at the speed in which it happened.

Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it. Those of us that do remember the past are condemned to watch the idiot left repeat it.

Spotify

I'm sure you've heard of the battle raging on between Neil Young and Spotify. Young doesn't want his music on the same network as Joe Rogan. Young thinks that Rogan is spreading misinformation about Covid and is killing people. After Young came out with his stance others have joined in. Joni Mitchell, Nils Lofgren and today I saw that Graham Nash has thrown his hat in the ring.

For starters, I like some of Young's music, on his own and his days with CSN&Y. I've not been a big fan of Mitchell, nor have I ever been of fan of the E Street Band which Lofgren belongs to. I'm sure in the coming days there will be others that you've never heard of also joining the chorus to get their 15 minutes of fame and to appear to be PC.

First, let me ask this. Where did any of these people get their medical degrees? I can hazard a guess. From the school of whatever "news" network spouts the theory of what they already believe. How's that?! I'll put money on the fact that I'm dead on! So, here's an idea for all involved, SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!

Now this has worked out for Young as today I saw that Sirius XM has a Neil Young channel. Good for you Neil. You were rusting instead of burning out and so you needed a shot in the arm (no pun intended) so people might remember who you are. But go figure, I have something just for you. Go back to Canada, hang out with your buddy Justin Trudeau, smoke your weed, drink that fairy piss you call beer and live out the rest of your life.  In other words, nobody cares. Don't worry, when your songs come on the radio, I won't change the channel, nor will I throw out the albums of yours that I have.

As for Rogan, unless you've got something other than your opinion on this, keep your mouth shut. Go back to commentating on UFC fights and whatever else you do to make a living. I like a conservative voice on the radio, you just need to know what you're talking about. Otherwise, you just look foolish.

As for me, I'm still on the fence about the vaccine. After a year of being available there have been two boosters and now I hear that another may be needed. To me that says that the vaccine isn't all that effective. Plus, with two years of having to wear the masks in some places, it tells me that the media is still fear mongering and that there is no end in sight to this. Get the shot if you want, wear the mask if you want, just don't ever try to tell me to do something just to make you feel better.

So I will continue to favor free speech over censorship, freedom of choice over mandates and hard rock and metal over folk rock most of the time.

Supreme Court Requirements

This week it was announced that Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer is retiring. He is considered a liberal member of the court, so I won't miss him. I don't have anything against Justice Breyer, I just wish he had retired about two years ago.

During the 2020 campaign, Joe Biden said that he would nominate a black woman for the first vacancy during his administration. He will now get his chance. Qualifiactions be damned as long as it's a black woman. According to Joe, this is the main requirement, no others need apply.

According to the Constitution, there are really no requirements to become an associate justice to the Supreme Court. One doesn't even need a law degree. In fact, anyone can get nominated. But according to Joe, it must be a black female.

With this racist policy now in place, what are the rest of the people that would like to be on the court do? If you're a liberal, then you do nothing because you want to be seen as towing the line. If you're a conservative, or a person of any other color or gender, you've got to be plenty pissed. Do you file lawsuit? I'm not sure that can be done, but under the equal rights act, it may be possible.

I know that Joe is going to be looking for the most far left person he can find. I guess that's what bothers me the most. I don't think that the Supreme Court should be setting policy. I think the Court should only look at the law as it is written and decide if it is in line with the constitution. That's it. Personal politics shouldn't come into it at all. In this day and age, it's not likely to happen.

Once again Joe Biden will show why I refer to him as the Potted Plant of the United States and will continue to practice identity politics, which is pure racism.

  Prove me wrong.

Biden's First Week

The first day that the Potted Plant of the United States was in office, he nixed the Keystone XL Pipeline and got us back into the Paris Climate Change BS Accords.

With the Keystone Pipeline being shut down, over 11,000 people lost their jobs. That translates into approximately 1.6B in salaries. That's a lot of money that wont be spent in our economy. That's also a lot of people out of work, now more than likely dependent on the government to put food on the tables of their families. 8,000 of these jobs were union jobs. When will the Liberals that dominate the union roles wake up to the fact that this guy was the wrong choice, as is every Democrat, and realize that it's the Republicans that are more capitalistic and actually know how to create jobs and run an economy?

Then  the Plant got us back into the Paris Climate Change BS Accord appointing John Kerry as the point man on this. So now I have to listen to someone who  married into the Heinz family, that flies around in a private jet tell me what I have to do? Doesn't make sense to me.

Today the Plant signed an executive order that states that Climate Change will be the center our domestic, national security and foreign policy. I laughed out loud at that. He went on to say that the government will invest in clean energy jobs. Solyndra immediately came to mind and again I laughed out loud.

During this address, the Plant stumbled and stuttered all the while obviously reading off of a prompter. The Plant looked confused at times and as if he had no idea what he was saying. Nothing new there.

It's been an interesting first week. Let's see what the next one brings.

The Death of the Republican Party

Today, January 20, 2021, a new Socialist Regime took the reigns of power in Washington DC. The Potted Plant of the United States, PPOTUS, or otherwise known as Joe Biden and his Commie Tart, Kamala Harris are now installed as President and VP. If this doesn't concern you, it should. With the Socialist having control of all three branches of the Federal Government there is now practically no way to stop their radical agenda.

I still feel, like many others, that this election was stolen from the 75 million of us that voted for Donald Trump. Of course there was no way the courts were going to allow an actual forensic exam of the votes, the voting machines or even listen to the over 1,000 separate affidavits signed by people who witnessed the fraud. Okay, that's over and done with now and time for us to move on.

It is time to remove all so called Republicans that now hold office. We can do this by first leaving the Republican Party and start a new one. I don't care if it's called the Patriot Party or the Constitution Party or whatever you want to call it. Form it! Then we find people willing to primary every incumbent. And I mean every damned one of them! We can start with Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney and Mitch McConnel. The behavior of these people over the course of the last four years has been abhorrent. Romney and Cheney voting to impeach President Trump and today McConnell cozying up to the Potted Plant and his Commie Tart.

The people of Utah should be furious with Romney. First he loses an election to the second worst president in my lifetime and then can't beat a first timer in a primary. The only way he can remain relevant is to go to Utah and use his religious affiliation to get elected as Senator. Then he bucks the President as often as he thinks he can get away with it. Romney is the worst kind of hypocrite. At least now we know who he is. I'm so glad I no longer live in Utah and have to be represented by this snake. Just go ahead and switch parties. Quit lying to all of us and even yourself.

None of you have lived up to your promise of representing the people who elected you. We will not forget. And when you come up for re-election, We the People are coming for your seat. It's time you all started looking for another line of work.

One Night in Dallas

Two nights ago in Dallas, Texas five of my brothers were murdered by a racist thug that only wanted to kill white people. Especially white cops. Well, he killed five and wounded six others, plus a civilian woman that was trying to protect her children. Then more of my brothers tried to get him to give himself up. The racist thug refused. He was killed by a robot carrying an explosive device.

As we all know this thug was upset because two other black men had been killed by police earlier in the week. It didn't matter that we really don't know all the facts yet, he had made up his mind that the police murdered these men and he was going to take his revenge. Well, this POS got his revenge and then he got his due.

In the shooting in LA, there is some cell phone video. I've seen what is online, but it doesn't show the first part of the contact nor do we know what was said. The fact that police were responding to a man with a gun call already put them on heightened alert. After shots were fired, it appears that a gun was in fact removed from the pocket of the suspect. The Sheriff immediately sells his men down the river by calling for a DOJ investigation. Remember, this is the same DOJ that refused to indict Hillary Clinton.

For the incident in MN I have seen no video, not even the Facebook video of the woman that was in the car. I've read conflicting reports about why the car was stopped from a broken tail light to the driver looked similar to an armed robbery suspect that occurred four days earlier. But in the end a man was dead and even the Governor was calling for this officer's head before the investigation had really begun. White Democratic Governor Mark Dayton stated that the shooting was racially motivated and promised that there would be justice for the dead man. Did he not realize that the officer is Hispanic? Or does that matter? Is every cop just looking for an excuse to shoot black men? Somehow I don't think so.

Philando Castile and Alton Sterling are dead after being shot by the police. That much I do know. The rest, I don't. The important thing to remember here is that, neither do you. Neither did Micah Johnson. Yet he choose to take the lives of five men that had nothing to do with either shooting. How does that compute. In the disturbed mind of Johnson this somehow did.

Now people are debating using the robot to dispatch Johnson. Some are saying that this is akin to warfare and not police work. They blew him up instead of shooting him. Dead is dead. He wasn't going to give up, he wanted to keep killing and he probably didn't care if he died that night. He had to figure that he would. So how he went is really of no consequence.

Now my Dallas family is hurting. So is the rest of my family, here and around the world. I've heard from a brother officer in Greece and he and the rest of his department were shocked to hear what had happened. Now we must bury our brothers. We will and pay them the respect they deserve.

The last two days I haven't really felt like going to work. Not many of us have. Yet I still got up early, went to the gym, put my uniform on and reported for duty by 0600. I'll do it again tomorrow too, as will the rest of my brothers and sisters.

The people chanting "Pigs in a blanket, fry "em like bacon" will not prevail. They are domestic terrorist. They have racist motivations. Tonight they are calling for a "purge" of officers. Meaning to kill as many as they can.

Don't think that we as an organization aren't aware. We will be ready. We will continue to do our jobs. We are not afraid.

An Open Letter to James Comey

Director Comey,

I have watched with interest the case involving Hillary Clinton's email. I was appalled by your decision. You laid out the case against Sec. Clinton and then let her off the hook. I have lost all faith in the criminal justice system. And I say that as a 20 year veteran of law enforcement. It appears that there are one set of rules for the Clintons and another for the rest of us.

The timing is what gets to me the most. Only days after Bill Clinton meets with Loretta Lynch in an empty plane in the middle of an airport you make this decision. It appears that you were told to make this decision. I believe that either AG Lynch or the president himself was in on this. Of course you will never admit that, but your reputation is now forever tarnished.

I'm watching your testimony today. You are falling on your sword admirably. Your bosses will be proud of you. If you really believe the things you are saying, then you are incompetent. If you don't, then you're a liar.

You sir, need to resign. Nothing you say anymore will be believed. The outcome of this could have been predicted and you went along. You caved to the political pressure and let a criminal go. I don't believe that Mrs. Clinton would have ever seen the inside of a jail cell, she's too big for that, but you could have held her accountable for her actions. I expected the President to stand up for her, but you sir should have put your politics in your pocket and done the right thing.

How does Sec. Clinton not know that what she did is illegal? Why is she not being held accountable? As Sec. State isn't just about everything she receives classified? That alone means she had the necessary "mens rea" and should have been indicted. I'm sorry, the reasonableness standard does apply here.

I will be contacting all of my representatives at the federal level calling for you to be removed from your position. I'm not worried about being able to find another job.

Hillary will always need another lawyer.

The Horrifying, Menacing and Very Loud AR-15

I read an article by Gersh Kuntzman of the New York Daily Herald in which he relates a story of how he fired an AR-15 and found it to be menacing, horrifying and very, very loud. Mr. Kuntzman claims that his shoulder was bruised, he was disoriented by the brass flying by his face and that he was left with a sense of PTSD after the experience. He was in a gun store that was run by a former police officer from Europe. After reading this article, I laughed out loud. Not to disparage Mr. Kuntzman, but because I found his article to be a bit less than believable. Lets take these points one at a time.

First of all the shoulder bruise. If the former police officer just handed Mr. Kuntzman the rifle and left him to his own devices I still doubt that a bruised shoulder would be the result. Even if the rifle was held six inches from the pocket of the shoulder, fired and allowed to bounce back at Mr. Kuntzman, I doubt any real injury would have resulted. The former police officer should have given Mr. Kuntzman detailed instruction on how to hold, load, aim, fire and unload the weapon and should have done all this with an unloaded weapon before allowing any live fire. When I fire my weapon, I place my nose right up to the rear of the charging handle (that's the thing that puts a round in the chamber) and pull the trigger. No damage to my nose. There is a large spring in the receiver extension tube, or stock if you prefer, that not only pushes the bolt carrier group back into the upper receiver, it helps to manage recoil. Mr. Kuntzman got bad instruction if he was injured.

Next lets talk about the flying brass. The ejection port (that's where the expended casing come out of the upper receiver) is on the right side of the weapon. Even firing this gun as a left handed shooter, which I am, the brass never gets in the way or even gets close to my face. When I first was introduced to this weapon system in 1983 (when I attended US Army Basic Training) the expended brass did hit me in the face. Nowadays there is a triangular piece of metal just behind the ejection port that deflects the expanded brass to the right and out of my face. So even if Mr. Kuntzman is left handed and shoots that way, the brass shouldn't even be noticed. Mr. Kuntzman also states that he has fired handguns in the past. Why was not the brass ejected from these guns effecting him. Was he only firing a .22 caliber revolver? That's about the only gun that doesn't have any significant recoil, but also since it is a revolver, the brass is kept in the cylinder.

Now lets to the PTSD. In all fairness there was a comment at the end of the article by Mr. Kuntzman apologizing for using this term. Some folks were offended. I wasn't. I was in the military and have been a police officer for more than 20 years to this point. Myself and everyone I have ever served with have been in situations where we wondered about the outcome. I have been scared to death. I been involved in altercations with suspects that have ended in one or more of us going to the hospital and one time, the medical examiners office. I've buried some of my friends. When I get a call of a man with a knife, the hair still stands up on the back of my neck. That sir, is a form of PTSD. Mr. Kuntzman used this term on purpose. It was for a political end, as was his entire article. I doubt Mr. Kuntzman has ventured far from the halls of academia, or his typewriter or computer and put on a uniform and served his country or community. Like I said, I wasn't offended. This just showed what type of person you are - deplorable. If loud noises upset you, how come the last time you claim to have fired a gun you didn't seem to be effected?

Guns are loud. In an indoor range, louder. If you were wearing proper hearing protection, it shouldn't have been a big deal. But I'll give you that it's loud.

So Mr. Kuntzman, your article was nothing more than one written by a left wing political hack working for the local version of Pravda. You were given your marching orders by White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest and put your own spin on things.

If you chose not to own a gun or be around them, that's your choice and I will respect it. But be grateful there are folks like me that are willing to stand up the evil in this world that you pretend doesn't exist. It is men like me that have guaranteed a free press in this country.

And Then There Was One

The one being Donald Trump after Senator Cruz suspended his campaign tonight. And why should he? After his rant today calling The Donald a lair, a serial philanderer, kook and other things, I'm glad he's gone. He stooped to what he was accusing Trump of. And it didn't work.

Now Mr. Trump can get onto the business of defeating Hillary Clinton in the generals. I affectionately refer to Secretary Clinton as the Hildabeast. I heard that on Rush Limbaugh's show. It's a good thing I wasn't driving. I would have crashed my car laughing so hard.

It started, what seemed about 10 years ago, with 17 contenders for the Republican nomination. Except for Mr. Trump, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, all were long time politicos. Early on these three were at the top of the polls. That should have told the party something. It didn't. Throughout the entire campaign the "establishment" has been bashing Mr. Trump. I loved it. I'm glad someone who isn't beholden the "system" has finally made an impact on the political process.

Mr.Trump wasn't my first choice, Scott Walker was. I think he was the first to drop out. Time to find someone else. I then thought Marco Rubio would be a good choice. He couldn't handle the pressure. That was obvious early on. The only logical choice after that was Donald Trump.

Here's a self made man that is financing his own campaign and owes allegiance to no one. He said some things that made me cringe. But what I liked is that he didn't apologize, didn't back down, doubled down and stood up to those that called him names and said he didn't belong.

Mr. Trump is a strong supporter of the military and law enforcement. I like that too since I've served in the army and am still a police officer. I don't think that Mr. Trump will allow terrorist, foreign or domestic, to run amok in this country. Our incumbent sure did.

Maybe once he's elected, he'll run this country like a business. I don't expect the government to make a profit, but certainly not operate at the losses it has. I believe he can bring jobs back to America. Put our people back to work and get them off welfare and food stamps. Those that want to work anyways.

We'll see what happens, but I think I'm right. How about you?

When You Don't Have an Argument

Yesterday I was on Instagram looking at some conservative posts, when I saw one from trump_media_outlet. It was a cartoon of what looked like a control panel with several buttons on it. The buttons said things like evidence, truth, hard data, test, facts and other things like that. There was a large red one in the middle that had a finger pressing down on it that read, "call him a racist." This was aimed at folks that have no argument other than that. The dreaded "R" word. You know the one I mean, the one that has lost all it's meaning over the last seven years.

Now here's what I don't get. Donald Trump has called for the closure of our borders to Muslims while the world is suffering another round of terrorist bombs going off. So how does that mean he racists against folks here? He wants to keep out potential problems to make YOU safer. I haven't heard him call for the mass deportation of Muslims. Unless, of course, they happen to be here illegally. But with what is happening in the Middle East and Europe right now, he may have a point.

There were only two comment to this post, even though there were 139 "likes". One was for the post and the other was obviously against it. The one against was a two word response, "f--k you." Proving the point that when you have no argument, you revert to this type of behavior. Didn't this person realize this? Obviously not.

I wont mention this person's online name, that would be indiscrete. But I did look at his page. A bunch of hip hop guys, I think. I did recognize Snoop, maybe Lil Wayne, not the others. Not my taste in music. But in his bio it did mention something about kush. Even as an old man I know that to be a euphemism for marijuana. So now the Snoop Dog pic makes a bit more sense. As well as his response. I think the author of that statement may have gone one toke over the line.

So if this young man wants to explain his position on why he thinks The Donald is a racist, I'm willing to  listen. After all, this is America and this person has a right to his opinion. I want him to, because I want to have mine.

And as Confucius is reported to have once said, "It is better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Brussels Bombed Obama at a Ballgame

Yesterday Brussels was bombed by the radicalized "religion of peace" killing over 30 and wounding scores more. Of course this is retaliation for the Belgian police capturing the Paris bomber who got away four months ago. These ISIS cowards slaughter the innocent in the name of religion. What a joke.

Of course our president was on his tour of the communist portion of the Caribbean, visiting Cuba and cozying up to the Castro's. So instead of cutting his trip short and coming home, Mr. Obama goes to a ballgame with Cuban Dictator Raul Castro. I saw a photo of them doing the wave together. What a disgrace. Once again, I'm embarrassed that this man is the president of my country.

Belgium in a member of NATO, as is the United States. If memory serves me correctly, an attack on any NATO country is an attack on all. In these times, an attack by the scourge known as ISIS in a NATO country demands a response by all member nations.

I understand that America needs to lead the way. We have by far have the largest military, the most powerful military and the most money. I'm good with all of that. What we need is a Commander in Chief that has the testicular fortitude to act. Barack Obama is not it.

I would bet a large sum of money that the Joint Chiefs have a plan that would destroy ISIS. If not destroy, then at least make it so they might think twice about another terrorist attack. This would suffice. ISIS needs to be afraid of us. They need to know that if another bomb goes off, we will rain an unimaginable type of hell upon them. This drone strike hear and there is obviously not cutting it.

Then there is the perception of standing by our allies. After the Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris, leaders from all over went to Paris. Not Barack Hussein Obama. He sent someone else instead. I wonder of it was the same person he sent to the funerals of criminals here in the States. I don't remember Mr. Obama going to France after the attacks in November, 2015 and I doubt he'll make to anything that is planned to remember the dead and wounded in this attack.

I can't wait for January of next year so we can be rid of this Pretender in Chief.

The Old White Guy

Today on Instagram I re-posted a photo of a woman that appears to be vomiting and the caption reads, This is how I feel when I hear the name Obama. When I first saw the picture, I laughed. No surprise there. Then I got a comment form a young person that reads, "Just looked through your page, and just as I thought you're a old, white guy who probably listened to everything his parents taught him as a child instead of looking at the world through his own eyes." Again, I laughed. At least I learned how to use punctuation and to spell.

After looking through my page, I'm surprised that this person did not come away with an appreciation for the police, the military, guns, food, conservative politics and sarcasm. Instead this young whipper-snapper called me an old white guy. Notice how it's "an" not "a" when it precedes a word that starts with a vowel.

I don't recall using age or race in my post. Granted I hash tagged Hillary, Bernie, Killary, Trump, Cruz, Rubio, conservative, liberal, Obama, infidel and American infidel. Equal opportunity there. Anybody that knows me here, or even there, knows I'm conservative. I call liberals, liberal. I think their policies are ridiculous at best, at worst stupid and even detrimental to our country. Yet I don't use race as a pejorative. This person did.

I too looked through the page of my commenter and it appears to be a young person of color. And because of that and the fact that I'm white, automatically makes me wrong in the eyes of this person. Or of anyone on the left. And that suits me just fine.

I responded to my commenter that I haven't always been this conservative. Believe it or not. And like our President I have evolved on certain issues. I didn't mention that I really don't care about a lot of social issues, that I'm not religious or that I didn't go to college. This person probably thinks I was also born into wealth. Not hardly.

One thing I am proud of though is that I've had a job since I was 13 years old. Sometimes two and three jobs at once. I've been paying taxes for quite a while. I've always been disappointed that my government operates at a loss. No, government shouldn't make a profit, but should at least break even. I hate the way that government squanders a good part, if not all of the taxes it takes from me.

I don't mind helping those who can't. I refuse to continue to support those that won't.

Where Have I Been?

Has it really been two years since I lasted posted here? It appears so. And for that I apologize. A lot has happened since then. Really? It all sounds like the same old thing to me. Liberals wanting things their way or the highway. Things like gun control, making free speech not so free and telling sports teams that they have to change their name because it might offend somebody. Let's start with that, shall we?

The Washington Redskins have had their trademark protections removed because the name might be offensive to some? Well then, how about the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim? Might that be offensive to atheists? The Giants, either from San Fran or New York, to shorter folk? The Padres to non Spanish speakers? The Raiders, Buccaneers and Pirates to people that have had ancestors killed by the scourge of the high seas? Do you see where we can take this?

Some will say that I'm over exaggerating. I don't think so. If one team can be made to change their name then any of them can. And there's no stopping the insanity. Teams named for animals will be castigated by animal rights groups. After all exploiting cougars and dolphins by naming a team after them is inhuman.

The sooner people stop seeing themselves as victims in this country, the sooner they can get on with the business of living. I am of partial Irish decent. During the turn of the last century the Irish were discriminated against because of their religious views. I don't feel like I am owed anything by the descendants of those that did the discriminating. The term "Paddy Wagon" has a derisive meaning towards the Irish because they were thought of as being drunks and the wagon was used to haul them off to jail. It is an old term and I couldn't care less about it. If I were to hear it either as a citizen or as a police officer, I know I wouldn't be offended.

The PC thugs in this country are out of control. I can't remember seeing it written anywhere that you have the right to not be offended by anyone. The First Amendment deals with free speech. There is a lot of things said in this country that I don't agree with or that I find downright offensive. Oh well, I voice my displeasure here. I don't take to the streets, petition Congress for new legislation or lose sleep over it.

The Redskins have been around for a long time. If you're really offended, don't go to the games, don't watch them on TV and root for the Cowboys.

And the Winner Is.................

Not to the surprise of many, Mitt Romney came out on top in Iowa. But not by much. Who would have imagined the Rick Santorum would have come such a close second. Not me, that's for sure. But still, good for Rick. Now his campaign will get some more coverage and a bunch of money. Now that Michele Bachmann has bowed out I wonder how many of her supporters will change their allegiance to Santorum.

I was disappointed to see Michele call it quits. I don't care what you think of her politics, she is a smart person, a committed conservative and the leader of the "repeal Obamacare" coalition. She has a background as a tax attorney, that made me think that she would reform, or at least try to reform the monstrosity known as the US Tax Code. It will be interesting to see if the eventual nominee considers her for the VP slot.

But back to Romney and Santorum. Both have hit the road to New Hampshire and the media is already calling Santorum names. I have heard him referred to as a "big government" conservative. Is that anything like jumbo shrimp? The moniker is a contradiction in terms. I am listening to Margaret Hoover blasting Santorum for his opposition to gay marriage. Didn't Barry also say that he was opposed to gay marriage? Now Rick is fervent on this issue as well as being pro-life. That may be why he did so well in Iowa.

Ron Paul came in third with Newt Gingrich coming in fourth. Newt really took it in the neck over the last few weeks while he was running close to Romney and it showed. I can't believe that Ron Paul came in third. He's a bit of a nutter on foreign relations and scares me a bit. Having said that, he will now become the nominee. I hope I'm wrong.

At first I thought Herman Cain could win it. Oops. Then I secretly wanted Michele Bachmann. Oops again. Now I don't want to think of who I want to win this thing. It appears to be a nail in their political coffin.

As long as we can nail the lid shut on the far left lunacy taking place in DC today, I'll vote for whoever the GOP puts up against Barry.

Six Days and Counting

Only six days until the first votes of the 2012 presidential election cycle begins. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Will Ron Paul take Iowa? Or will Mitt Romney prevail? Of course only time will tell. I won't make any predictions on the outcome. After all I said some things about Herman Cain having a good chance to be the nominee and look what happened to him.

What I will say is that I like some of what I hear from all that remain in the race. Like most normal folk I think that Ron Paul needs to wake up about foreign affairs and realize that Iran can and will be a force to be dealt with, especially if they come up with a nuclear weapon, but cutting the size of our federal government sounds good to me.

Mitt Romney will have trouble with Romneycare in Mass. and Gingrich will have trouble because he is Newt Gingrich. Three marriages and admitted infidelity, plus sitting on the couch with Nancy Pelosi. Michele Bachmann is polarizing and Santorum and Perry don't have a chance.

Still, like Sean Hannity said, I would vote for a potted plant over Obama. As long as whoever wins the nomination vows to repeal Obamacare, cuts the federal budget and has a solid plan to get this country back on track they will win. We've seen how the current administration has done nothing to further our nation. Any of the Republican candidates would do a better job.

What I'm really happy to see is that the primary season is finally getting under way. It will cause some to drop out and narrow the field. Most will hang on for the first few state primaries, but before long Huntsman, Santorum, Perry and Paul will drop out. Now that I've said that, let's see what happens. I think Bachmann will hang on until the bitter end.

I wish we could find someone that is a combination of Romney, Gingrich and  Bachmann all rolled into one. That would be a great candidate and would easily beat Obama in November. No matter what, Obama will look silly in any upcoming debate because any of these three are certainly more experienced than Obama in the ways of the world and government.

Our current Prez has not done well trying to learn as he goes.

Maria to Sean, "Communist"

I just finished listening to a radio interview done by Maria Conchita Alonso about her recent run in with Sean Penn at the LA airport. It's no secret that Maria does not care much for Sean's politics or his man love for Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez. In the past Ms. Alonso put an open letter to Penn on the internet chastising him for his position. So now I'm sure that the consternation goes both ways.

During the interview Maria says that their conversation started reasonably enough but soon voices were raised. She then admits that she called Penn a "communist "@$$hole." Good for you, Maria. If I was wearing a hat I would give you a tip of said hat. No one could have said it better if you ask me. And you must have because here you are.

Now in fairness Ms. Alonso went on to say that Penn is a gifted actor, although she said that it was a shame he was. She mentioned that it is difficult for her to watch a movie that he is in. She also mentioned voting, I'm not sure what she would be voting on, but she votes for something that Penn is involved in. I would have to agree that it would be hard to watch a movie that Penn was in, because I refuse to watch his movies. If Maria can, then she is probably better person than me because she can put her personal feelings aside. I just find it difficult to patronize someone that I don't care for. I'm not saying anything about his acting ability, but about his personal opinions.

So why is Chavez such a fan of Penn's? Didn't Penn win an award for playing openly gay San Francisco councilman Harvey Milk? I think he did and in his acceptance speech blasted folks that oppose gay marriage. Now Mr. Penn's views are certainly liberal, but I didn't think that commies were cool with homosexuals. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm not. Maybe I'm not as up on what commies like as I should be.

I don't harbor any illusions that either of the participants will read this, but I can only hope they do. Sean Penn would know how conservatives see him and Maria Conchita Alonso could see the praise I at least am sending her way. I know nothing of Ms. Alonso's politics, but I'm guessing they are not near as left as Sean Penn's.

But then again, who's are?

Another One Bites the Dust

Is that too harsh? The title I mean. Of course I'm referencing the death of Kim Jong-Il of North Korea. I just heard that he recently died. Now the country seems to be in the hands of his youngest son Kim Jong-Un. Kim light? Now that's too harsh, I'll erase that. Better? Ok.

Kim Jong-Il was a madman of the first order. Of course that's just my opinion and probably the opinion of most of the world too. Here was a guy that reminded me of a villain from a James Bond movie. That hair, those glasses and his elevator shoes. Plus his total lack of any regard for his people. His people starved while he built nuclear weapons. Yet they loved him. Crazy. The people of North Korea are completely brainwashed. This can happen when the rest of the world is totally cut off.

Now we have to wonder what will happen next. Will it be worse? Will it be better? Who knows. I just hope that we don't have a repeat of what's happening in Egypt at the moment. Can you imagine if some rouge General in the military decides to try a coup and gets his hands on the nukes? What if civil war breaks out?

We can hope that the folks of North Korea deify the latest Kim as they have the last two and nothing major happens. Then Kim III can start to bring his country into the 21st century and begins to have normal relations with the rest of the world.

It seems that the North Koreans have also just test fired two ballistic missiles. I wonder if this was just to let the world know that they are still there. I'm sure it was. And I'm sure the Chinese said it was okay to do. I doubt that Kim III is Chinese, but I would bet tons of dough that they will have his ear. Maybe he won't listen much.

All I know is that another nutty dictator is dead. This one seems to have died by natural causes instead of his own people rising up against him. Lucky him. Now his son gets the throne.

I wonder if the DNC will challenge Kim III's ascension to the throne and want a recount.

Payroll Tax Cut Extension

I just couldn't leave this alone any longer. As I watch the news this evening I see a clock behind Barry counting down the time until the payroll tax cut expires and taxes go up for working class folks like me, and probably you, if Congress does nothing. WTF! Really, Mr. President? Have sunk so low that this is all you can think of?

First of all let's get some things straight. According to the items I have heard from our wonderful national media if the payroll tax cut does not get extended the average family will pay about $1,000 more in taxes. BS is my response to that. Isn't the average salary about $40k? Well, doing the math that comes out to about $38 a paycheck if a person gets paid every two weeks. Nothing to sneeze at for sure, but no one is getting "rich" because of this either. Now I was fortunate enough to make a little bit more than this last year. When the payroll tax cut went into effect my paycheck went up only $30. I do get paid every two weeks. So I think the first figure of $1,000 a year is inflated. Plus, plus, it did not reduce my overall tax burden at the end of the year. I broke about even after my deductions.

I know this sounds callous, but people making $40k or more won't miss $30 a payday if it doesn't reduce their overall tax burden. Just reduce the amount people need to pay the government by reducing spending and balancing the Federal Budget. I don't expect my government to make money, but I expect them to spend what I send them wisely and do not spend more than they take in.

Barry also wants to extend unemployment insurance. I hate to sound cold, but come on, how long is long enough? 99 weeks is the limit now, what does he want it to go to? I think two years in plenty. How many folks are just sitting on their collective behinds collecting tax payer dollars instead of taking what they can get. Just because you have a trade, skill or college degree you are not guaranteed a job in that field of endeavor. More than once I've taken jobs that I really didn't want while I continued to look for a job in the field I wanted. Sometimes working multiple jobs at the same time.

Now here comes the shocking part of this. The Republicans are trying to attach the Keystone Pipeline plan to this bill. Barry said he would veto any bill about the tax cut and unemployment extensions if it contained the pipeline plan. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said that this "has no place" in this bill. I can't believe I'm about to type- Mrs. Pelosi is right. I just shuddered after typing that. But I have to admit that Mrs. Pelosi could not be more correct. I also have to give the President a tip of the hat on this as well. I'm surprised my computer hasn't blown by now.

But really this is part of the problem of the political system. This idea isn't about liberal vs. conservative, it's about just concentrating on one thing in a bill. Not putting pet projects in with things that have no connection. If the Keystone Pipeline plan is to pass the Congress, then let it stand alone and have it's merits be judged.

So let the tax cuts expire, do not extend unemployment and look at the Keystone plan separately.

When to Kill A Cop

This seems to be the theme of a flier at the Occupy Phoenix rally found this week. In the flier it suggests that if a person believes his/her rights are being violated that the only things a person can do is submit or resist. Now resistance means that the police are going to call more members of their "gang" and you will either be subdued or killed. So the only resistance is to kill the police officer.

Do these sound like the words of peaceful protesters to you? They don't to me. I've been a police officer for right on about 15 years now and have had more than one person seriously try to kill me. Neither time did I enjoy myself much, but as you can tell I survived the encounters. This is something I take very seriously. As should anyone else, not just the police, that runs afoul of these cretins.

I know from experience that there are officer that overstep their bounds and use too much force or believe that the rule of law does not apply to them. Fortunately, the department I work for has been successful in ridding itself of these types. I believe that departments across the country do their best to do the same thing.

The problem with most people who think they "know the law" is that they get their information from movies, TV and their ex-con friends. I can't count how many times I have heard, "I know my rights" from some brain dead idiot that could not have been more wrong. Most of the time I have been able to explain why I was doing what I was doing and the person would calm down and realize that I was right and would go along. There are always a few that no matter what can't seem to grasp the situation and will struggle against the police.

The point is, what if all the "I know my rights" folks had decided to violently resist me for what they perceived as a violation of their rights? Well, for starters alot of them and maybe even myself would be dead. That's a potential outcome of a violent encounter with the police.

One of the "almost" shootings I was involved in was with a person that thought the police had illegally entered his home and he thought that he had the ability to resist such an intrusion.  For starters, we were well within our authority to enter and arrest this person and by law a person does not have the right to resist an arrest even if it is illegal. At least that's what I got out of the court proceding. During the struggle to arrest this person, he attempted to disarm the other officer I was with. Had that officer communicated that fact to me the outcome would have been different than this person just going to jail.

I don't have to worry about the "occupiers" in the city I work, but I have a few words of advice for the people that are protesting around the country. If the police tell you it's time to move on, just go. The police will not back down. They will gather in larger numbers until they have a superior force and will remove you by the means necessary. The police will not purposely violate your civil liberties and certainly have no interest in doing so. If you raise your hand against a police officer chances are that officer will defend him/herself ferociously.

And then the others will come to assist.

Comments

Each one of my conservative views that gets posted here seems to be read by a few people. Do you want to know how I know that? Okay, I'll tell. Since Blogger went to a new interface I have the ability to see from what country people are seeing my blog. That's it, just the country. I have no idea from where in the country, it only tells from what nation.

I seem to have a fairly regular reader or two in Russia. That surprises the hell out of me. But I have to tell you my Russian friends that I am grateful you take the time. The same goes for the reader in India. I never would have thought that I would have someone outside the US read this blog. But again, I thank you.

I used to have a regular reader in Finland and in South Korea. They haven't been back in a while. That's too bad. They must not have liked what they read or got tired of the same ol' theme. I hope they pop back in and give it another try.

There have been readers is Romania and Germany and Thailand and even Malaysia. Wow! I thank all of you. And I would be rude if I didn't include those from Canada and the UK. Of course the majority of the readers have been from right here in the USofA. This blog is about American politics after all. I try not to meddle in the affairs of foreign countries. That is unless there is a direct correlation between our countries.

What I'm getting at here is that I would like to hear what you think about all this. I'm not so arrogant to think that my opinion is the only one worth listening to. If you agree with me, great. If you don't, that's fine too. Tell me, let's have a conversation about this. I'm willing to listen to other opinions and we can have a great, open, honest discussion about the direction of this or any other country.

Thank you again for honoring me by reading my blog. I look forward to hearing from you.
